The usual weekend catch-up
Feb. 5th, 2012 11:52 amThis weekend saw me catching-up with Glee and the latest ep of Supernatural. I also got around to watching Attack the Block which was utterly daft but actually quite good fun, me and the father had quite a chuckle as alien furry blobs tried to invade a decidedly hostile estate 'block'.
So. Glee. Non-spoilery reaction: Mike Chang, I am going to miss you and your incredible dancing moves. Finn continues to grow on me as a character. Santana, you are still unfairly gorgeous.
I loved hearing Becky's thoughts and how she, quite rightly, could sound like whoever the hell she likes inside her own head. Her relationship with Sue is another bright spot on Glee, just when I think I've had it with its self-indulgent teenagers the writers will flaw me with a genuinely lovely moment like we get between those two.
And The Warblers!! Ooh, I did like seeing their 'bad' side for a little while, though trust Sebastian to take it too far. I'm sure he'll get his comeuppance in the end and he does deserve it, but he is a good villain, I do like disliking him. (Plus the sing-off between him and Santana was great).
ETA: A-ha! I knew I'd forgotten something. The sing-off between Sebastian and Santana. Yes it was great and just because of them. But because of the 2 amazing cellists who were their backers. I watched it and thought 'They look familiar...' And sure enough! Yes, the cellists play in gigs as '2Cellos' and are indeed the ones you've seen going viral on YouTube and the like. Nice to see them début on mainstream American TV, may it serve them well :)
And onwards! To Supernatural. Non-spoiler-y reaction: ZZZZZZZZZZZzzzzzzzzzzz. Enough already. A few interesting nuggets to leave you wondering just what's coming next, but they were nuggets.
Oh for crying out loud, we've had seven bloody seasons of the Winchester angst. Surely we have had enough. I had hoped that getting bitchslapped by Krycek last ep would have maybe snapped Dean out of it a bit, but no. No instead we had to ignore that and revert to the Frank 'just smile' approach.
Crowley, where are you when I need you.
Moving on, there were some nice 'ooh' moments. Of course there was the moving paper, and the possibly disappearing beer from the fridge. Could it be Bobby? Could it be Cas? Could it be someone else they have loved and loved over the past 7 seasons? Or is it something new... *cue Twilight music*
I also liked the face-off between Dean and his daughter, a couple of nice moments there well played by both actors.
As for the Amazons in general, was it my imagination or was it only ever Sam who got to see their 'other' face? I wonder if there's something in that, if there is still something about him that causes this kind of reaction in non-humans. I'm sure that time will tell.
AND FINALLY! There is a new Loki promo still for The Avengers. I might have flailed a bit when this cropped up. Roll onMay April! (Yes, it rocks to be in the UK :) )
