Hehehe... yes I have finally seen the S2 finale of Sherlock. Thumbs up from me, and pleased to hear that S3 had already been green-lit back when they gave S2 the go-ahead.

Although I haven't read all the books, I do remember listening to a radio programme some time back in which they were discussing how authors sometimes have no choice over what they write. Their key example was Sir Arthur Conan Doyle and his killing of Sherlock and Moriarty.

Apparently the reading public were so outraged and caused such uproar that in the end, poor Sir Arthur simply picked-up his pen and wrote another story (set sometime after the waterfall fight of d00m) which completely ignored the fact that supposedly the main character had been killed off just a few chapters earlier.

Behold the power of fandom (and presumably the siren call of royalties)...

So when I saw 'Falls' in the title, and the pic of the waterfall, I realised which book we were loosely mirroring this week. As a result I must admit I was never too worried about the key players, I knew they were going to be all right, but I was intrigued to see just what on earth Moriarty's big plan was.

In some ways I was a little disappointed, mainly with Mycroft. He has the potential to be so wonderfully sinister, but nope, in the end he'd just been played like everyone else. Here's hoping he gets a moment next series to shine.

But overall, oh yes, this ep pleased me greatly. And I loved that in the end it was Molly who became Sherlock's secret weapon, swimming up into his notice just in time after being invisible to both him and Moriarty for 2 series. I'm looking forward to seeing just how she and he managed to orchestrate Sherlock's apparent "death" so well.

So I guess that's us done for another year or so then. Au revoir, Sherlock, I look forward to our paths crossing again.

I have to wait to see the new series since I'm here stateside and won't see it until May when Masterpiece Mystery starts their season up again on PBS. Alas...no Benedict bum for me. :( But I'm not going to keep myself from being spoiled since, like you, I've read the books and know what's going on in a round about fashion.
