The weekend of awesome catch-up has officially begun since I have now watched SPN (s7 ep2).

Non-spoilery reaction: Eh. Some good stuff (and when I say good, I do mean really very good), but too soon to call how I'm finding this season thus far.

Spoilerly: Unless Misha turns around in the future and point-blank refuses to return to the set, there is no way that Cas is fully, completely dead. Although when I say 'Cas' I am talking Jimmy!Cas since in theory he could always reappear in another vessel. Anyway! My flawless, impeccable reasoning goes thus:

1) No body. No wings. No flash of grace. Many the time's a hero's cap has popped to the surface/dropped to the ground and the friends have mourned only for the hero to pop up again later (think Robin Hood, think Indy, etc etc). Nope. Cas ain't dead.

2) The Dean/Coat moment. As a brief aside I utterly agree with the sections of fandom saying that Dean is so sleeping with that coat as his pillow tonight. *sniffle* But the more important thing is he took it with him. If that isn't laying groundwork for him possibly returning the coat to Cas in a typically emotionally constipated moment in the future then I don't know what is.

3) This is Cas. He's been a big part of the show and a good money earner. If they were really going to write him out it would have been with a bit more fanfare and also probably not within the first 5 minutes of the ep. (I'm thinking here of Rufus, Gabriel *sob*, Ellen and Jo who got fabulous, tear-jerking send-offs for their characters. No reason why the same courtesy wouldn't be extended to Cas given how long he's been here).

4) "The Boss..." So the leviathans get to use the vessel's knowledge. In which case, if I was the big topdog Leviathan, I'd want the body which had a side-order of angel know-how in it. Cas/Jimmy may not be able to hold all the leviathans, but I wonder if they could maybe just about contain one uber!one. In which case, yet again, my money is on Cas/Jimmy making a reappearance later in the season.

Back to the general ep itself, I loved Lucifer. Watching him so casually just turning Sam's worldview upside-down was a delight, and I adored the whole "So apparently I'm not real" moment. Great how in this instance, recognising the problem hasn't actually solved it.

So I will be tuning in next week, I want to hear more about these leviathans and what they have planned, particularly anything about this thus-far-unseen 'Boss' that Edgar talks about.

And now back to the rest of the planned catch-up, next is Doctor Who before the highlight of highlights Merlin (SQUEEE!) :)
