So tonight was the UK première of Torchwood: Miracle Day. The run-up was an odd one for me; on the one hand my Torchwood (utterly insane and with a pterodactyl) was gone and not coming back, but on the other hand the casting announcements did make me go 'Ooooh'. The result was that while I was looking forward to TW's return, I wasn't excited and if I'd been out I probably would not have been in any hurry to watch the recorded ep (though I would definitely have watched it at some point. Maybe when I could do the whole series in one sitting).

My conclusions? Well, yes, it was fun. And oh it was good to see the familiar faces again. But as soon as the credits finished the BBC went into a trailer for The Apprentice final done to the music of 'Eye of the Tiger'. Which made me laugh quite a bit. And really look forward to seeing who gets hired. And basically made me realise that this was the reaction I probably should have been having for the long long looong teaser they gave for the rest of the TW season.

In short, yes, it's fine, it's fun. Thumbs up so far. I will tune in next week. But if you want gushing excitement... it may take a while. The new characters are entertaining and splendid but I'm feeling nothing for them so far. No doubt this will change as the season progresses so let's wait and see before passing final judgement.
