I am decided to be persisterance
Mar. 14th, 2010 09:37 pmAm I really the only one currently hooked on the latest series of Lark Rise to Candleford? If so then bear with me, for this week I must squee over the latest ep.
Alf and Minnie!! AWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW!!!
This series does have a way of making me absolutely fall head over heels for the most odd pairings. Last series it was Thomas Brown and Margaret whatshername. Yes they were about as interesting and exiting as drying paint, but somehow they were also insanely likeable and you were just willing them to finally get their acts together.
This series I thought that the 'romantic' B-plot would be Margaret revealing she was pregnant (and incidentally oh how I felt for them last week as they tried to accept the high probability that parenthood would not be happening for them). But no, instead it really does seem to be Alf and Minnie who are also making me want to draw little hearts around their names.
Admittedly it does feel far more forced that last series. At least with Thomas and Margaret you could see their common ground through the church; with Alf and Minnie (particularly given Minnie's character last series) it definitely seems to be the result of the writers deciding that these two stray extras might as well pair-up. But, as does seem to happen with Larkrise, it still works. Their chemistry is lovely, the way Twister gave a knowing chuckle as Alf suddenly realised there might be 'feelings' involved.... awwww! ♥♥♥ I'm guessing we'll now spend the next few remaining episodes waiting for Alf to finally get the right moment to admit his new stance to Minnie, with plenty of comic interruptions along the way.
Oh, and on a parting note: Daniel Parish. There's another surprise for me. Having honestly not given a toss about his and Laura's romance, suddenly this week I like him and yes I will be rooting for him when Fisher returns next week.
And back onto pretty boys in Camelot. Because you can never have too much of them now can you. It seems that the Beeb's approach to the Merlin DVD boxsets is that each country gets its own set of exclusive interviews for series 1. With the result that new vids keep popping up as places like Germany and Japan release their boxsets of slashy goodness. Japan was the one keeping me amused recently. Firstly it had Colin revealing that Bradley was the first person he met, secondly it gave us a chance to be juvenile and giggle over the pictures of Colin being all grinny over his co-star nibbling on a banana. Yes I have the humour of a 2-year-old today, what of it? :)
ETA: Oooh, I knew there was something I'd forgotten! Here be pictures of John Barrowman on Desperate Housewives. Apparently he was told not to dye his hair in preparation for the role, and I have to say I love how he looks in this; slightly peppered hair, lovely smile lines around the eyes, I hope he realises that actually he does seem to be one of those lucky folks who will age very very well.
