Dude. What crack. Never have I laughed so hard.
Yes, I have just caught up via BBC iPlayer. And actually I really enjoyed this ep, mainly because I was drinking wine at the same time, and also because after the crashlanding of last week I had adjusted my sights so I was just waiting for the next moment of sheer redefining awfulness. And it was astonishing how this series continues to come up trumps in those stakes.
Though the autograph scene was entertaining.
I predict that although it gets savaged, this series will actually do okay in ratings due it being a trainwreck that people cannot turn off because they simply cannot believe the Beeb would persevere with something so abysmal. What are we thinking, three series maybe?

Date: 2008-07-22 12:14 am (UTC)I am actually waiting in dread - in DREAD - for the moment at the end of the run, when Continuity Guy v/o's the credits with "And Bonglickers will be returning for a new series next year..." While we still wait for a FIVE EP STUMPY RUN OF TORCHWOOD TO BE ANNOUNCED ONE DAY, MAYBE? Like, maybe about a week before it airs? Where is the press release? Damn it, I want Official Confirmation, with celebratory bells and confetti and attractive naked gyrating dancers of all orientations.
In the meantime, I'm trying to work out if I can resist the siren call of another hour of writhing in horror and sympathetic embarrassment tomorrow night. It remains, hands down, the most godawful schlock I have ever seen in a televised series. I may have to climb on for another ratings-boosting goggle, I think. If only to confirm my theory that either Hugh or Adrian is going to turn out to be Ms Boring Newbie's mysterious unmentionable father that she's sought out in order to get better acquainted for five eps until she drops her bombshell. It'll almost be like... character development! And if it is, my money's on Dolly, because that would make the whole thing in the first ep where he was ogling her tits all the more deliciously ghastly.
... I can't believe I'm wasting microns of synaptic energy on this monstrosity!
Orphan got slowed up - I took time out to go back to watching SJA while I was high on the fun drugs, to re-align the feel of their voices in my head. God, Kelsey was annoying! Thank goodness they traded her in for Clyde! Ian is now sitting in the garden telling SJ that he's sorried that he may be... a monster! Tee hee hee! Don't worry, I don't think she's going to hug him and offer to snog it better. Can't imagine why she wouldn't, mind you. I bloody well would!

Date: 2008-07-22 12:33 am (UTC)Though, if it is being relaunched as a big thing on BBC1, does that mean we get specially shot promos like they did for other big TV moments like, er, Bianca returning to Eastenders.
It is awful. At the moment I'm only persevering because (a) I want to see Burn Gorman, and (b) I'm evil and find it entertaining how many good actors seem to be drawn to this and it's fun watching them trying (and failing) to dredge some depth to this cheese.
I honestly haven't given a thought to any of the characters' backstories, I just don't care enough, whatever it is, bring it, I shan't bat an eyelid, I'm waiting for the next hilarious burst of Deep Profound String-driven background music with slo-mo camera :)
