Ah, football
May. 21st, 2008 11:43 pmI feel quite exhausted, and I only watched the last ten minutes of the game. Or rather, I watched what should have been the last ten minutes, only then it was extra time, then finally penalties. Dude. Both teams were fighting to the very last whistle, I was impressed. Memories include:
X. One Man U and one Chelsea player both trying to head the same ball. Both heading each other instead. Both dropping like stones and not moving as the doctors hurried over. The symmetry was almost artistic.
X. It becoming so painfully obvious that everyone was knackered when one shot of the pitch showed about 3 players on each side experiencing cramp at the same time and small huddles forming as they all tried to help each other out with the stretching.
X. Ronaldo missing. And then sobbing when they finally won. Dude, talk about a last minute reprieve.
X. The gratuitous hugging and kissing going on amongst the losing team. I did feel sorry for Terry - he looked gutted - but at the same time I have no problem with not utterly unattractive men getting all touchy feely with each other. This would be the point to remind folks that, yes, I am shamelessly shallow quite frequently.
