lonelybrit: Apples & book (Default)
Ah yes, that was the weekend. I feel a little like I need another one to recover all the lost sleep, though it was utterly worth it of course :) Of course there was the odd bit of tipple *cough* gratuitous playing of cheesy 80s music at stupid o'clock in the morning, visits to the V&A and ogling of past Russian outfits, and a little bit of BSG / Torchwood / Merlin / Thick of It. Good, good times. Even with the 3-hr road trip to nowhere, damn you M25 *shakes fist*

Anyway, fandom highlight of the week so far has to be the Radio Times spread and extra 'Behind the Scenes' article. The latter has a brilliant wee pic of ASH with devil horns and bow tie, and the former utterly blindsided me with yet another throwaway sentence of just perfect adorkability. You bastard, Bradley James, it's time to play fair and start revealing some serious flaws now.

To wind up, yet more fic recs for those of you rambling:
x. A Most Generous Gift - Merlin - G - implied Merlin/Arthur but the story belongs to Uther and Merlin and a very quiet, understated showdown held over a razor.
x. Steal My Heart, Hold My Tongue - Merlin - R - Merlin/Arthur, a series of vivid snapshots as Merlin dreams of the past and future. Rather a sad fic.
x. Eternity for a Day - Merlin - Merlin/Arthur - G - short but sweet, Merlin living and sleeping through the ages until he can find the right time to finally say goodbye to Arthur.
x. The RPS of Doom - Merlin RPS - NC-17 - YES I KNOW I'M GOING TO HELL. But this is a good one, slow build-up with all the stumbling along the way, boys being boys and the show just being the show. Also, though his scene is brief, ASH is awesome.
x. Non Linear - Torchwood/Doctor Who - Jack/Ianto - I am not fond of the Face of Boe thing. And if there's one thing 9 times out 10 that will kill a story for me, it's the 'Life After Death' device. Somehow this fic manages to have both these things and I still thoroughly enjoyed it. Plus there's a cracking sense of dry humour throughout to keep you going through even the heartbreaking parts.
