We are the Champions...
Oct. 17th, 2007 11:10 pmHad an entertaining listen to faithful old Radio 4 earlier. No idea what the programme was but of course they got some lady to talk about the fact that England are in the Rugby World Cup Final. In particular their choice of team music and DVD. How a good choice will inspire the team, put them in fighting spirit, rouse their blood and put them in the mood for victory.
Anyway, our team chose for their DVD: Cool Runnings.
As the lady said, possibly more appropriate if we were talking about some underdog about to go out onto the field as opposed to, in this case, the defending world champions. *snerk* God bless our fighting spirit, really.
That said, as the narrator pointed out, all is not lost. Yet. She's resting what hope she has in the crowd singing 'Swing Low Sweet Chariot', because, as she put it: "When we're trailing South Africa 20-0 at half time, if you hear the crowd break out into that song, it could mark a turnaround. Don't believe me? At the UEFA Champions League final, Liverpool were down 3-0 to AC Milan, then a copper started singing 'You'll Never Walk Alone.' And I think they did alright."
