Fanfic Author Appreciation Week
Mar. 11th, 2005 12:28 amARGH! I'm supposed to be packed/packing, I have no time left. Why am I online? **flails** However, even though my keyboard is buggered and my computer keeps on freezing, there are two people who I knew I had to post about the moment I saw this appreciation week thingie begin. So... **rolls up sleeves and shoots death glare at computer**
theferretgirl, writer and lover of Wes. And, of course, spreader of the love of ferrets. She can write all the brits of the AtS-Verse with a wonderfully authentic voice. It's always a treat to see Wes, Giles or Spike getting shirty with someone. Her humour will always makes me smile though, whether it's coming from a pissed-off Watcher or watching an emotionally sensitive sea-dragon. A very good all-rounder, FG can and will write slash/het, fluff/dark. I think one of my favourites is Outcasts, a WIP with Wes, Spike, Willow and Faith finding their feet in a strange new world where one moment they're having to rescue each other from evil pirates, and the next chatting with gigantic but perfectly friendly seadragons. Go read her stuff, and have a very very good day =)
The second lady on this post will come as no surprise. I found her on ff.net, the sheer quality of her work making her a name that I quickly grew to remember and look out for.
eloise_bright is simply a superb all-rounder. One moment she will have me in stitches with her Bond!Wes in From LA With Love as he gets gravely briefed on terrifying organisations such as S.P.U.R.T. The next fic and she has created a chillingly believable Switchverse!Wes who has had to live through Angelus' brief but painfully memorable reign over Sunnydale. And often she will quite easily mix the two, so you really don't know where you are. Yes, she does make you squee and coo over Mini!Wes as he finally gets the Christmas he deserves, at least for one year. But watch what happens to that same character and that same apparently unbreakable family a few months down the line. *sniffles* Slash/het, humour/angst, canon/au... she's done it all, and done it brilliantly. If you haven't read her work, shame on you!
