lonelybritThis was floating around a while back and I have a few minutes to kill, so here be LB's Shipping Meme for The Sarah Jane Adventures and of course Torchwood:
One True Pairing 'ship: Actually I'm going to have to go with Sarah Jane/Alan Jackson, even though part of why I love the pairing is tied up with the fact that I'm honestly not expecting anything to happen between the two. They're both devoted to other people in their lives (Luke, The Doctor, Maria, etc) and if they ever do spare a thought for the other I imagine it's in the 'Ah, in another life...' kind of way. But still, they'd both be so wonderful for the other, and even as things are I'm hoping their friendship will survive to the end of the series.
Canon 'ship: Jack Harkness/Ianto Jones - no surprises there then :)
"If this happens I'll stab my eyes out with a fork" 'ship: Gwen Cooper/Jack Harkness. In terms of general TV, I very rarely enjoy being asked to go for the 'obvious' ships. Grey's Anatomy lost me very quickly when it looked like I would be asked to root for Grey/surgeon dude, AtS went off the rails when Angel/Cordelia finally materialised, and of course the biggest deflator of show love was The X-Files' Scully/Mulder. If you must have a relationship between your two main leads, leave it unrequited full stop, or leave it to the very end. Examples of where this has worked well for me include Buffy/Xander or Sam Tyler/Annie Cartwright.
"You are one sick bastard" 'ship: Ianto Jones/The Master(Simm). It would be twisted, wrong, absolutely sweet FA to do with any kind of caring or concern, and most likely result in the complete destruction one way or another of at least one of the pair. Oh yes, bring on the pain :)
"I dabble a little" 'ship: Jack Harkness/Toshiko Sato. Personally I think Jack's a little bit in love with all of his TW team, but after watching Captain Jack Harkness this ship did rise a little above all the others.
"It's like a car crash" 'ship: Ianto Jones/Owen Harper. Oh the snark, the bitching, the continual put-downs and clashing personalities. Love it.
"Tickles my fancy but not sold quite yet" 'ship: Hmm, on the understanding that I'm talking about several years into the future where they're both adults; Clyde Langer/Luke Smith. They are adorable together, but even so at the moment I'm not sold on the idea that they could better the friendship they currently have. However one day, maybe, in the future, I can see them becoming my Wes/Gunn-esque type of pairing.
"Makes no canon sense but why the hell not" 'ship: Sarah Jane Smith/Jack Harkness. Oh come on, they so would :)
"Everyone else loves it but I just don't feel it" 'ship: Ten/Jack Harkness. Which is odd, as I utterly loved Nine/Jack, but this recent incarnation of the Doctor had a totally different way with Jack which left me happy with unrequited love and hero worship.
"When all is said and done" 'ship: Sarah Jane Smith/The Doctor. As she said, there was only ever one man for her. On the Torchwood side, of course it has to be Captain Jack Harkness/Captain Jack Harkness and angels dancing at the Ritz *sniffle*
