That distant sound you hear? That is the sound of any vague remaining continuity in Torchwood going up in smoke. Bless.
I can't complain that I missed Friday Night with Jonathan Ross because I was chewing the cud with the grandparents and it would be petty and wrong to bemoan time spent with my beloved elders given I haven't seen them for a month or so.
HOWEVER I can flail a bit at the reports of the Utopia clip that was aired. The 'DOCTOOOOOOOOOR!' clip. The clip that basically completely and utterly ignored the TW finale in that Jack went from being underground in the Hub with his crew about to come in through door, to being at the far end of the Plass with a rucksack and legging it towards the Hub and the TARDIS.
Ah well. Continuity. It was overrated anyway *ahem*
Oh, and the other spoiler seems to be that the Doctor's reaction upon seeing Jack racing to reach the TARDIS was TO STEP ON THE BLOODY ACCELERATOR AND TRY TO LEAVE HIM BEHIND AGAIN A;FDSLJDFLKAJ;DLKJFJDKA;L
My spin on it, if this is indeed what happened, is that the Doc was freaked out because Jack should be dead and thus either the Doc has accidentally crossed a timeline (which is bad) or has bumped into something very wrong and unnatural as far as he's concerned. In any case. TEH ANGST! THE ANTICIPATION! IT BURNS!!!
ETA: Aaaaaand have now seen the actual clip. My main reactions were: LOL! and *headdesk*
You're kidding me, Jack honestly clings on to the outside of the TARDIS the entire way? Is there any oxygen? Why doesn't he get sucked off? (And I've just realised what a lovely innuendo that could be and I'm leaving it because it was entirely unintentional). How about frostbite? Obviously death itself isn't a problem because hello! he's Jack.
And oh yes. The Doc saw him, looked mildly disturbed but tried to now show it to Martha, and instead just set the TARDIS going. Adding another thought - I wonder if he's wary about meeting Jack in his new body. After all he only revealed himself to Sarah Jane when there really was no other choice. How many more eps do we have to wait?
In other news I'm sitting less than a foot away from a window with the curtains open. Just now there was a scrabbling, I looked around in time to see an owl land on the sill, flap its wings, peck at what I assume was a Just Caught Mouse, and then fly away again. I could see the individual feathers on its head. Quite beautiful. I do like the countryside :)
