Franz are supposedly taking a three month break, starting in September. Least that's what I thought was said. This seemed sensible considering Paul is due to be a Daddy come August. However I've always doubted they could manage it. And hah! I'm right! They've just signed up to do a gig in MEXICO on 11th September. For the love of god, someone shackle that band to the ground before they burn themselves out.
Also, purely so I can look back and go 'Ah yes, that was me': I honestly don't know why the poor creature decided that my room was the place to be. The window was open (because I was MELTING) but the curtains drawn, and I was just about to log off the computer when there came these soft thumps like a large moth batting against the lamp. So I looked up expecting a moth, only to see this decidely larger black object flutter past. For one horrid moment I thought maybe it some huge stinging bug had come in, only to realise that no - my room was now host to one very cute, tiny bat.
Anyway, there I was, standing in the middle of the room in my nightie while this bat zooms about the room. It was a bit like that scene from Batman Begins, complete with leathery wings almost but never quite batting me across the nose.
In the end my visitor settled on my LotR poster, hanging upside down and swiveling its head so we could stare at each other. It was so. sweet. Tiny black eyes blinking at me, little ears, this tiny white and black snout that kept on snuffling the air. Then off it went again, doing a few more circuits before finally settling behind a ceramic sausage dog on a shelf above the window.
After scaring the bejesus out of the until-then-sleeping younger sister (Her advice: Why don't you poke it with that long white pole we have?), I wound up clambering up on the chest of drawers and scooping the wee thing up in a jumper. I was terrified of holding it too tightly and so it half escaped, crawling up my covered forearm which caused us all to go 'AWWWWWWWWWWW!' before we managed to thrust it out the window and it flapped away.
*sigh* Such a good night :)
And to round things up, also last night I finally saw Devil's Trap. Again, it was one of the best eps of the season. I really enjoyed it.
Dean rocks. Oh yes. Having said last week how he seemed to be the voice of reason (Revenge isn't worth dying over), it was interesting to see how actually the reason for this is quite not as logical as it first appeared. Dean is quite happy for everyone else to die, so long as his family get left alive and well. However, be that as it may, he does have a good influence on Sammy - making him realise that getting himself killed maybe isn't a sacrifice that's worth making.
I actually enjoyed this possessed!John. Rather like Fred going into Illyria. All of a sudden he became a lot more charismatic, at least for me. His taunting of the lads and his subdued anger over the death of his own family were brilliant. Incidentally, I adored that small moment of connection between him and Dean. Dean not having a come-back, for once, when asked what he would do to the person responsible for destroying the ones he loved.
Sammy too came on this ep, a lot less annoying that I normally find him. If anything he and Dean swapped places for a little while when it came to acting sensibly. It was a good idea to leave the gun somewhere safe, even if in the end they wound up using it anyway.
My only disappointment is that we didn't get any close to understanding *why* the demon was so interested in Sam, what his plans were. But I don't mind too much as just meeting the guy finally was great fun. Loved how the Daddy gets the cool eyes while all the offspring get left with the more normal black.
I'm not unduly worried about whether or not Sam and Dean surive that truck crash. Of course they will, the series is kind of sunk otherwise. If anyone does snuff it, it'll be John - but honestly I wouldn't be that upset. If anything, I would love him to come back full time as the demon, because he was fun in that role. And think of the angst that would leave Sam and Dean with :)

Date: 2006-07-04 02:41 pm (UTC)As far as I'm aware we're not overly worried about rabies round here. But even so, and even if they do only eat bugs, that tiny mouth had tiny teeth - hence the jumper!

Date: 2006-07-04 03:10 pm (UTC)I adored demon!Daddy. Especially when he was taunting Dean, and Dean just turns into a little kid. Were you surprised by the truck at the end, or had you been spoiled for that? My reaction was pretty much 'OMGWTFIMPALA!' more than concern for the boys, as yeah, they should both be back next season. But what about the CAR? *wibble*

Date: 2006-07-04 05:36 pm (UTC)I had picked up on the truck, and I'd also heard of Season 2 getting the go ahead, so I was never really worried about the lads. But the car. Oh the humanity, NOT THE IMPALA! They'll either have to have it redone or buy one exactly the same.
Or maybe travel by hypogriff. I could accept a hypogriff.

Date: 2006-07-04 09:33 pm (UTC)Oh absolutely. I think I lost a lot of the tension because I *knew* Dean and Sam had to come back - but I can imagine watching that ending with absolute horror if I hadn't known already, LOL! And yes, just think of the angst if the demon moved into John full-time, mwhahahahaha...
