Nothing much to report at the moment. So just a few thoughts on some films I've seen these past two weeks.

Downfall. - brilliant. Wonderful. Best film I've seen in a long, long while. It's about the last week or so in Hitler's bunker before the end of WWII. You see the people around him altenating between despair, defiance, and hopeless denial over their situation, the film following them right to the German surrender, days after Hitler's suicide. All the actors are superb. Truly. I was left with a lump in the throat because it really does bring home what a horror war is.

Good Night, and Good Luck. - very good. Credit has to go to David Strathairn who was just incredible as Ed Murrows. You couldn't take your eyes off him. All about the days of senator McCarthy and his campaign to root out the communists. It sent a genuine chill down the spine; talk about witch hunts. One of those films that genuinely makes you think long after credits have rolled.

Wallace and Gromit: Curse of the Were-rabbit. - Dude, it rocked. To be honest, it wasn't as good as some of the shorts. The Wrong Trousers I think is still the best one so far. But in any case, this was great. Bunnies!

I watched Downfall too and was captivated. That guy Bruno who played Hitler was amazing. It was incredibly realistic. Riveting stuff. Should be on the school curriculum.

He was incredible. One moment positively kind and gentle, and the next so vitriolic and uncompassionate for his own people... *shivers* It must be hard to play that role so convincingly without making it at least part a caricature, but he did so wonderfully. And yes, it should be added to the curriculum. Not so much as part of history, but just to show what war is like.

And the secretary's final statement at the end. Realising she was the same age as Sophie Scholl. That really did hit home. Age is no excuse to not take part in what is happening to your country.

It's not fair. I had the most lovely bunny, though t'is but drabble sized, but all my free time this evening got stolen by bastard public transport. However, tomorrow night if possible I shall try and pin this sucker down... *eyes bunny*

Coming to brummy on sat but only for a few hours... i know it's pathetic but it was all I could manage!
Have to see Tia and her family but I am sure you will find a very warm reception if you join us. Train arrives 12.43, leaves 18.24

Ooh, well I look forward to seeing you, even if only briefly! I won't intrude on Tia as that'd be rather rude, but I'll meet you at the station and we can grab a tea or something from one of the cafes. I think there used to be a Ben's Cookies place near here, unless it's closed...
